Organic Turmeric Powder

Curcuma longa

Golden • Earthy • Warming

A vibrant certified organic Turmeric powder made from the dried root of Curcuma longa, grown in India.

Deeply golden, earthy and gently warming, Turmeric has travelled through kitchens, traditional herbal practices and daily rituals for centuries.

Perhaps best known for its important place within Ayurveda and Indian food culture, this remarkable rhizome is equally at home in curries and dhal as it is in golden milk, botanical tonics, soups and contemporary recipes.

Turmeric’s brilliant golden colour comes from naturally occurring plant compounds known as curcuminoids, including curcumin.

A beautiful meeting point between food, plant and traditional herbal knowledge.

Botanical Profile

Botanical Name — Curcuma longa
Plant Part — Rhizome
Origin — India
Certification — Certified Organic
Naturally Occurring Compounds — Curcuminoids

The Golden Root

Turmeric belongs to the ginger family, Zingiberaceae, and grows beneath the earth as a branching rhizome.

Once harvested, the rhizomes are prepared, dried and finely milled into the intensely coloured powder we recognise as Turmeric.

For thousands of years, Turmeric has held an important place in Indian culture — used in cooking, Ayurveda, ceremony and everyday life.

Its warm, earthy flavour and extraordinary natural pigment have made it one of the world’s most recognisable botanicals.

Curcumin + Curcuminoids

Turmeric naturally contains a group of polyphenolic plant compounds known as curcuminoids, the best known of which is curcumin.

These compounds are responsible for much of Turmeric’s characteristic golden-yellow colour and are the subject of considerable contemporary scientific research.

If supported by the current supplier specification, this batch contains approximately 7.57% curcuminoids.

Golden milk
Smoothies
Curries + dhal
Soups + broths

Turmeric pairs beautifully with Ginger, Cinnamon, Cardamom, citrus, coconut and Black Pepper.

Scoop • Stir • Golden

Golden Ginger Turmeric Tonic

Makes approximately 2 cups

½ teaspoon Organic Turmeric Powder
½ teaspoon Organic Ginger Powder
Juice of 1 lemon
1–2 teaspoons raw honey or maple syrup, to taste
A small pinch of Black Pepper
3 cups filtered water

Combine the Turmeric, Ginger and water in a small saucepan.

Gently simmer for 3–5 minutes.

Remove from the heat, allow to cool slightly, then add lemon and honey or maple syrup to taste.

Strain if desired.

Enjoy warm, or allow to cool and serve over ice with fresh citrus.

A Note on Black Pepper

Black Pepper contains piperine, a naturally occurring compound that has been studied for its ability to increase the bioavailability of curcumin.

For everyday culinary use, Turmeric and Black Pepper also happen to be a beautifully complementary flavour pairing.
