Blue Cypress Oil is native to Australia & has a sweet woody, balsamic, herbaceous aroma. Part of the Traditional "Medicine Chest".

Resinous compounds in the bark react during distillation with other aromatic compounds to create guaiazulene, an anti-inflammatory compound similar to chamazulene that gives the essential oil its dark blue colour.

Aroma: Sweet, fresh, fruity, mildly licorice-like, balsamic aroma with a resinous, faintly smoky undertone; has good tenacity and fixative properties.

Benefits:
It has long been used as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory oil as well as a support in soothing respiratory illness.  calming, grounding & relaxing. 

Blue Cypress oil does have both inflammation and pain-­relieving benefits, as in helping to relieve allergy-­induced hives, insect bites (such as from sand flies, mosquitoes, wasps and bees) and soothing nappy rash.

Blends with:

Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cardamom, Cedarwood Atlas, Chamomile, Cistus, Clary Sage, Cypress leaf, Fir, Frankincense, Geranium, Grapefruit, Helichrysum,  Jasmine, Juniper Berry, Labdanum, Lavender, Lemon, Lime, Marjoram, Neroli, Oakmoss, Orange, Patchouli, Pine, Spruce,Rose Absolute, Rosemary, Sandalwood & Ylang Ylang.

Recommended use:

In perfume the oil is primarily a ‘base’ note. It is an excellent perfume fixative that will blend well with other woody notes, citrus and ‘green’ aromas.

Blue Cypress oil does have both inflammation and pain-­relieving benefits,  helping to relieve insect bites (such as from sand flies, mosquitoes, wasps and bees) and soothing nappy rash.

In terms of muscle & joint complaints, there are reports of Blue Cypress oil helping with the pain and inflammation of general joint pain & swelling and with rheumatoid arthritis.

Care Instructions:

Non-toxic. Not in pregnancy or when breast feeding. Only use diluted in base oil on skin. Not recommended for ingestion or applied neat to the skin.

Easy Recipe

Muscle Ache Massage Oil

Equipment:

50ml bottle with lid or dropper sterilised

Ingredients:

7 drops Blue Cypress Essential Oil

5 drops Cajeput Essential Oil

3 drops Clove Bud Essential Oil

30ml Sweet Almond Oil

Method:

Combine all ingredients.

Store in dark, cool place. Massage into area as often as needed.
